BGM's contribution to going green

BGM Autobody is the first shop in the Metcalfe/Osgoode area to start using water base paints. PPG Envirobase is a revolutionary paint that provides our customers with a superior color matching and durable finish while ridding our environment of harmful solvents. Waterborne paints contain water as the major ingredient instead of solvents and volatile organic compounds. These paints are better for the environment because they contain and emit less of these harmful chemicals. Reduced solvent fumes means cleaner air and a healthier work environment. Waterborne basecoat paints are composed of 70% water, 10% organic solvents, and 20% pigment, metallic and pearlescent particles. In the paint booth, the paint fumes are filtered through paint arrestors fabricated of slit and expanded paper, this filters the fumes before exiting into the atmosphere. The painter also uses a fresh air mask while painting for the benefit of his own health. All our scrap metal is put in a bin and sent to Bakermet.
